punctuation marks, numbers and other symbols in the text. One

spaces.

3. Can you provide notary certified translations? How much
does this service cost?
Yes, translations can be notary certified, i.e., the notary
verifies the authenticity of the translator’s signature. Every

4. What documents can be certified by a notary?
Such documents must have an original signature, stamp and date.
The notary does not certify informative documents, e-mails,
Internet documents that do not bear signs of an original
document.
All documents issued in foreign countries must bear an apostille, otherwise such documents shall be considered null and void in Lithuania.
Apostille is a consular document which certifies the
authenticity of the signature on the document; the capacity in
which the person signing the document acted; and, if necessary, the
identity of any stamp or seal affixed to the document. An apostille
is a verification of an authentication or a legalization. For
instance, in Lithuania the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the
Republic of Lithuania additionally verifies the notary
certification (seal and signature affixed to a document) by
affixing an apostille. Under the Hague Convention, signatory
countries have agreed to recognize public documents issued by other
signatory countries if those public documents are authenticated by
the attachment of an apostille. The Apostille ensures that public
documents issued in one signatory country will be recognized as
valid in another signatory country. In Lithuania apostilles are
issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consular Department) and
its diplomatic missions and consular institutions.
